You can delete your Holiday Spirit account and its data at any time. You do not need to reinstall the app, and you do not need to contact us first.
Enter the email address on your account and we will send a confirmation link. Following that link deletes the account.
No account access? Email support@krampus.studio from the address on the account.
Want to keep the account and remove only part of what you added? Use delete some of your data instead.
Deletion happens immediately and cannot be undone. You are signed out as soon as it completes.
| Data | What happens |
|---|---|
| Your account record and login credentials | Deleted |
| Your profile — email address, display name, avatar and bio | Deleted |
| Achievements, titles, and who you follow | Deleted |
| The record of which displays you visited or confirmed | Deleted. This is a timestamped history of where you have been, so it is destroyed outright rather than anonymized |
| Halloween candy check-ins | Kept, anonymized. The check-in and any note stay on the display with no connection to you |
| Any display you had claimed | Released. The listing stays, but it is no longer claimed by anyone |
| The link between you and displays you submitted | Deleted — submissions are no longer attributed to you and cannot be re-linked |
| Holiday display listings and photographs you submitted | Kept, anonymized. Other users rely on these to find displays. They remain in the app with no connection to you |
| Reviews you wrote | Kept, anonymized. The rating and text stay on the display with no connection to you |
| Lanterns you have not sent, Lightkeeper days, and phrase packs | Lost, and not refunded. They are tied to your account and cannot be transferred or restored afterwards |
| Lanterns you have already sent | Kept, without your name. They stay on the displays you sent them to, with no connection to you |
| A display you marked This is my display | Released. Anyone can mark it afterwards |
| Purchase records | Kept without your name for seven years from the purchase, then deleted. The order identifier Google Play gave us stays as a business record for tax and accounting, with no connection to your account |
| Reports you filed | Kept, anonymized. We still need to act on what you reported, but the report no longer says who filed it |
| Reports other people filed about you | Deleted |
| People you blocked, and anyone who blocked you | Deleted. Both directions go with the account |
| Device location | Nothing to delete for searching, which never stores it. Spots you saved during a lights drive are deleted with the account |
Anonymized retention is our default, but it is not compulsory. Email support@krampus.studio and we will delete the display listings, photographs, reviews and Halloween candy check-ins you submitted as well. This is handled by us by hand rather than by the app, so it has to be asked for — there is no option for it in the deletion flow itself. Send it from the address on the account, and say clearly that you want your submissions removed and not just anonymized.
If you have bought Lanterns, deleting your account forfeits any you have not sent, along with any Lightkeeper days and phrase packs. They cannot be transferred to another account or restored later, and they are not refunded. Lanterns you have already sent stay where you sent them.
Google Play keeps its own record of what you bought. The purchases may still appear in your Google account’s order history after you delete your Holiday Spirit account; that history is Google’s, and deleting here does not change it.
If you only want to stop using the app for a while, simply signing out preserves everything.
Immediately. Deletion is a single operation, not a queued request. By the time it returns, your account record is gone and the identifiers linking you to your submissions have already been removed. There is no waiting period, and no window in which it can be reversed.
Our hosting provider keeps rolling daily snapshots of the database, retained for no more than seven days on our current plan. A copy of a deleted account record can therefore sit in a snapshot for up to a week before it ages out. Snapshots exist for disaster recovery and are never used to restore a deleted account. Photographs are held in separate file storage that database snapshots do not include.
If a display at your property has been listed by someone else, you do not need an account and you do not need to delete anything. You can claim the listing and control it, or have it delisted entirely. Email support@krampus.studio with the address. We check that the property is yours before doing either, by email and by hand.
